American Traveler is seeking a PCU RN for a float pool position requiring telemetry experience and dual Kansas/Missouri or compact RN licensure.
Requirements
- Active Kansas and Missouri RN license or compact license required in hand
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- ACLS certification preferred
- 1-2 years of experience required, with 2 years of recent in-specialty experience preferred within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
- Experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown settings required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care required
- Experience managing sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID patients required
- Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, and central line care
- Two professional references required, one from a supervisor level or above and the second from a charge RN, both from within the past year
Responsibilities
- Float pool position covering approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments with floating to other metro campuses as needed
- No assigned home unit
- Day shift, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- 8 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
- No on-call requirements
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Float pool RN responsible for providing care across multiple Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU units and campuses
- Charting and documentation performed using Epic, with training modules provided prior to start
- Special equipment used includes 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
- Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel experience not required
- No travel partners accepted
- Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time-off requests finalized prior to submission and no additional requests after offer or onsite
- Previous BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 18 months with a 3-month break in service, or 1 year if returning as a traveler after permanent employment
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility will not be accepted as local
