American Traveler is hiring an experienced PCU RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and active FL or compact licensure.
Requirements
- Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; CPI preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Epic charting system experience required; Allscripts experience also required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Travel experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, BiPAP/CPAP and chest tube management, wound care, and pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery care
- Two professional references from a Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director dated within the past year required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required between 10/31-3/31 with medical or religious exemptions only
Responsibilities
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, neuro stepdown, and ER holding patient populations
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 total weekend shifts per 6-week period
- Float requirement to other units or sister facilities within the health system
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Provide care for cardiac, neurological, and stepdown patients requiring close monitoring and intervention
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, wound care, and pre/post procedural care for cardiac and renal patients
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers with no radius restriction
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Former Health First employees or contracted staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
- Candidates must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of signing
- Orientation includes completion of annual training modules tracked through the facility's learning management system
- Scrubs of any color are accepted, but top and bottom colors must match with no logos or prints
- Holiday and hurricane coverage requirements apply
- Travel pairs are permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
