Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring post-operative open heart care experience and an active Ohio or Compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) currently in hand and verifiable via Nursys
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Post-operative open heart care experience required
• Critical care experience highly preferred
• Chest tube and other drain management experience required
• Pre- and post-procedure care experience for patients with radial and femoral access required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips and responding to rhythm changes
• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities required
• Experience assisting with chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire removal, and management of temporary pacers (pericardial and transcutaneous) required
• Experience with non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems required
• Skills checklist current within 1 year pertinent to PCU specialty required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• Care for cardiac and pulmonary patients, including post-operative open heart cases
• Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to all units within skill level
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age‑specific criteria
• Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries
• Candidates residing within a 45‑mile radius of the facility are considered local travelers, which affects travel pay rate eligibility
• No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) are permitted
• First‑time travelers may be considered for this position
