American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN with trach and ventilator management experience for a 13-week rotating shift assignment requiring 2 years of pediatric acute or rehab experience.
Requirements
- Active RN license (Maryland or Compact)
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- CPI certification preferred
- 2 years of pediatric rehab or pediatric acute care experience with required skills (non-negotiable)
- Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience required
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care
- Experience with pediatric feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and NG tube insertion/management
- Experience with oral/nasal suctioning and oxygen delivery systems
- Wound assessment/care experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Pediatric Stepdown unit combining rehab and acute care, not a PCU
- Patient population includes pediatric and adolescent patients with TBI, spinal cord injury, GSW, MVA, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, spina bifida, and CP
- Post-ortho surgical patients requiring extensive ST/PT/OT care
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- 3x12 rotating day/night shifts (07:00-19:30 / 19:00-07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty and other departments, including occasional float to another campus through 10/8/26
- No on-call requirements
- Meditech charting system experience preferred
- Provide stepdown-level nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients with complex neurologic, respiratory, and post-surgical needs
- Scrubs of any color or pattern permitted
- Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates under 50 miles from the facility are generally not accepted unless locals are specifically stated as accepted
