American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Tele Intermediate/Stepdown unit position requiring 2 years of experience and IL licensure.
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required (or confirmation that application process has been initiated)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BSN not required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels (Drug-Free Campus)
Responsibilities
- Acute care setting in a Level II trauma hospital's Tele Intermediate stepdown unit (26 beds)
- Patient population includes CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, and syncope
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5, with charge nurse taking patients and techs at 1:9
- Central tele monitoring with medications including Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitro
- No vents on unit; Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow/Vapotherm used
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Every other holiday coverage required
- No on-call requirements
- Travelers expected to float and will maintain the same 1:5 ratio on their assigned unit
- 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available; nursing does not mix meds
- Hospitalist coverage 7a-5p, followed by APN in-house with e-hospitalist support
- No IV team on unit
- Floor orientation includes 1 hospital orientation shift and 2 unit orientation shifts (one day, one night)
- Provide nursing care to stepdown/intermediate telemetry patients in a Level II trauma facility
- No specific scrub color required; clinicians may wear their own scrubs
- No block scheduling, though facility will try to accommodate consecutive night shifts
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local rate
- No radius rule restricting eligibility for the position
- COVID vaccination not required for consideration
