American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a night shift Acute Telemetry position in Alexandria, LA, caring for cardiac patients including MI, CHF, and arrhythmias, with an every-other-weekend requirement.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
- Current BLS certification from the AHA required
- Current ACLS certification from the AHA required
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry or related nursing specialty experience preferred
- BSN preferred
Responsibilities
- Acute Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVD, and some med-surg overflow
- Cardiac drip management is performed on this unit (nitrates are not used)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1, occasionally 6:1
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- 13-week contract
- Provides nursing care using the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Responsible for medication and treatment administration per protocol, including monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- New hires attend orientation within the first 30 days and are precepted by a designated trained staff member
- Ceil blue scrubs required
- Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
- Candidates who have previously worked at any CHRISTUS Health facility (non-travel) must have a minimum 6-month separation before being considered for a travel assignment - this applies across the entire CHRISTUS Health System
- Two references required for consideration
- A US Social Security Number is required for consideration
