Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- De-escalation certification required (CPI/MOAB); facility offers CPI training upon arrival
- Minimum 12 months of recent core experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing
- Behavioral health experience with assessment and discharge planning skills required
- Point-of-care testing experience required
- Experience with adolescent psychiatric population preferred
- EPIC experience preferred
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
Responsibilities
- Free-standing Mental Health Emergency Center in Milwaukee, WI
- 12-hour night shift schedule, , 36 hours per week
- Unit houses 12 adult beds, 5 adolescent chairs/beds, and 6 inpatient beds
- Patient population is 75% adults and 25% adolescents, including crisis de-escalation, acute psychosis, suicidal ideation, and non-medically monitored detox
- Includes both voluntary patients and involuntary patients brought in by law enforcement
- RN patient ratio is 1:2-3 on both day and night shifts
- Charge nurse covers first shift with house supervisor coverage evenings/overnights, neither carries a patient assignment
- On-site security (two officers 24/7) and two physicians on site 24/7 with a mid-level provider at varying shift times
- EPIC EMR preferred
- Floating is unlikely but may occur to other Aurora facilities within 20 miles during low census, working within scope of practice
- On-call required during low census periods with a 1-hour response time
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- Perform intake, triage, and crisis de-escalation for adult and adolescent psychiatric patients
- Work as part of an energetic, team-oriented unit supported by CNAs, physicians, security, and social work staff
- 3-5 days of orientation provided based on comfort level
- Minimum of 2 major winter holidays required for coverage
- Up to 5 days of time off approval allowed
- Business casual attire or any color scrubs permitted

- Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible
