American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong recent PICU experience and the flexibility to float between PICU, CVPICU, and NICU.
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required (pending license accepted with proof and application submitted, but active license required before start)
- Compact or state license required for MD/VA
- Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
- Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
- Strong critical care skill set required, including ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Cerner charting experience required
Responsibilities
- >Works within the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool at a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Cares for critically ill pediatric patients across the PICU, CVPICU, and NICU
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2, with up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
- Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) options available
- Required to float within scope between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU based on facility needs
- Every other weekend required, with openness to block weekend scheduling
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Provide critical care nursing across multiple pediatric specialty units including PICU, CVPICU, and NICU
- Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and free of logos
- Facility is a 320-bed Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I trauma hospital
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
- Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week off requires making up missed shifts or extending the assignment
- No RTO permitted after accepting the offer
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one guaranteed holiday based on preference and the second based on facility need
- Only one Children's National location may be applied to per traveler, and cannot be submitted by multiple agencies
- Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least one year
- Candidates must complete pre-start training modules prior to orientation
