Job Summary

The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The role involves providing post-operative care to primarily pediatric patients, with occasional adult patient responsibilities, within a busy Level 1 Trauma designated teaching hospital. Candidates must have experience working in a critical care pediatric environment to be considered for this position.

• Position: Registered Nurse Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
• Schedule: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Start Date: 08/24/2026
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); 2 years of experience in the critical care pediatric space; Candidates must have completed at least one previous travel assignment; Location requirements are specific to North Carolina; a minimum of 2 years of professional experience is preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing vented patients, ICU patient management, and pediatric surgical care.
• Patient Care: Serves primarily pediatric patients aged 0-17, with some adult patient care based on unit needs. Handles surgical patients across most specialties excluding cardiac.
• Patient Ratios: Typical ratios include RN: 1:1 and 1:2, depending on acuity.
• Skills & Responsibilities: Manage vented patients, administer gtts such as heparin, insulin, and cardio medications, with limited use of BiPAP mostly in post-operative care. Comfort with telemetry monitoring and managing ventilated patients is required.
• Support & Department Resources: Includes transport, HUC/receptionist, PACU educator, dedicated charge/manager, and anesthesiology services available 24/7.
• Technology & Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record system, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors.
• Float: Occasional care for adult patients who are transferred to their unit.
• Orientation: Includes a NEO day with the facility and two precepted shifts.
• Additional Notes: Scrubs provided, free parking, and team-oriented all-hands-on-deck mentality.

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
