American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience, with on-call responsibilities and a day shift schedule.
Requirements
- Active Louisiana or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS required
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required; CVOR experience specifically required
- NURSYS report required (must be current within 4 weeks)
- 2 Manager/Supervisor references required for clearance to start (Charge RNs not acceptable)
- Must reside 65+ miles from the facility (based on address on driver's license) to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors with Ochsner Health System must have been separated for at least 1 full year before being eligible to return as a traveler
Responsibilities
- Day shift schedule, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (5x8-hour shifts)
- 7-room CVOR unit handling 10–25 cases per day
- On-call required on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
- 2 weekends required per 6-week schedule
- Work settings include Ambulatory OR and General OR
- Cases include cardiovascular procedures such as CABG and Aortic Aneurysm repair, as well as vascular, orthopedic, neuro, thoracic, urology, general surgery, gynecology, plastics, bariatrics, podiatry, transplant, and endoscopic procedures
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Equipment experience includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Steris; Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Cell Saver, and Hana Table experience are a plus
- Green scrubs are provided by the facility
- Orientation is held 5 days a week and includes required facility modules
- Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign travelers to an Emergency Team, which may require remaining at the facility during or after an emergency event or serving as part of the relief team
- All time-off requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- First‑time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have sufficient OR experience
