American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVOR RN for a high-acuity cardiovascular OR position requiring transplant experience and Epic proficiency at a quaternary teaching hospital in Newark, NJ.
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2.5 years of CVOR experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in circulating CVOR and hybrid OR cases required; scrub experience preferred
- Some degree of transplant experience required (cardiac, lung, and/or kidney highly preferred)
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Two current professional references required
- Copies of certifications required
- Former RWJBarnabas Health staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- All RTO and schedule requests must be submitted prior to offer; no requests will be approved after an offer is extended
Responsibilities
- Work in a CVOR and hybrid OR suite at a 665-bed quaternary teaching hospital and major RWJBarnabas Health system facility
- High-volume surgical program performing complex cardiovascular cases including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, aortic aneurysm repair, aortic dissection, and VATs
- Vascular cases include endovascular AAA, carotid endarterectomy, arteriogram, angiogram, TCAR, AV fistula, and femoral popliteal bypass graft
- Transplant experience required; cardiac, lung, and/or kidney transplant experience is highly preferred
- Circulator role required; scrub experience preferred
- Day shift, 3x12‑hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- On‑call required: 24‑hour on‑call coverage one weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday), plus two weekday on‑call shifts of 8 hours each (3–11 or 11–7)
- Holiday coverage required based on unit needs (approximately 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays)
- Floating may be required to the main OR for ortho, general, laparoscopic, GYN, robotic, ortho/neuro, vascular, and pediatric surgery cases
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- Hospital provides scrubs
- Local candidates are accepted
- The CVOR is staffed by highly specialized multidisciplinary teams utilizing state‑of‑the‑art technology within hybrid OR suites
- The facility is home to one of the nation's largest and most established heart transplant centers, with advanced cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and transplant programs
