American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and NRP certification.
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NRP certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant nursing experience
- ASN required, BSN preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
Responsibilities
- NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) setting within a hospital
- Neonatal patient population
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week, totaling 36 hours weekly
- Holiday coverage required per rotation
- Weekend shifts required per rotation
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required
- Utilizes bar code scanning for medication administration
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
- Serve as primary caregiver for an assigned group of neonatal patients, utilizing the nursing process and current care standards
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs
- Monitor intake and output for assigned neonatal patients
- Assist mothers with breastfeeding initiation and baby-friendly care practices
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds to report on patient status
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation
- Identify and report safety hazards to ensure patient and employee safety
- Contribute to peer professional development through constructive feedback and collaboration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- RTO limited to no more than 7 total days per 13-week contract
- Workers may not remain on continuous assignment at this health system for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service
