American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum position requiring 2 years of experience and a CO or compact RN license.
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required
- BLS and NRP (AHA) certifications required
- AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, and CLC certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC), and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with antepartum, high-risk antepartum, Level 1 nursery, postpartum, and Special Care Nursery/Level II settings
- Experience administering medications such as antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin
- Skilled in newborn care including cord care, discharge teaching, infant identification, IV antibiotics, metabolic screening, neonatal abstinence syndrome care, newborn assessment, phototherapy, and thermoregulation
- Skilled in postpartum care including bladder assessment/Foley catheter insertion, breast engorgement management, breastfeeding instruction, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and couplet care
- Experience with postpartum care of cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and vaginal delivery patients
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration
- Experience with pain management including opioids, pain assessment, post-epidural management, and use of PCA (IV)
Responsibilities
- Standard Mother-Baby unit providing family-centered care for postpartum mothers, newborn infants, and obstetric patients requiring antenatal monitoring
- Cares for patients following vaginal and cesarean births, late preterm and term newborns, and infants requiring extended observation or specialized neonatal care
- 18 staffed beds with a patient ratio of 1:3-4 couplets
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30), various days of the week
- Weekend requirements per unit needs: 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays per 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities within the North Region as needed
- Charting completed in Epic
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Provide comprehensive care to postpartum mothers and newborns with a focus on maternal recovery, newborn well-being, patient education, and safe transition to home
- Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with RTO restricted during select high-census periods
- Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate for those residing within 75 miles of the facility
- Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates, or who applied to UCHealth internal travel/perm positions within the last two years, will not be considered
- Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
- Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of the assignment
