Travel RN - Med/Surg - Wound/Ostomy Care

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Wound Care position requiring CA RN licensure, WCC certification, and prior charge nurse experience.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS and WCC certifications required; WOCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in wound treatments and dressings including alginates, foams, hydrocolloids, hydrogels, and silver products
• Experience with mechanical and sharp debridement, wound cultures, and wound vac therapy
• Proficient in ulcer risk assessment tools including Braden scale and pressure/venous/arterial ulcer assessment and management
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy management, ostomy equipment selection, and continence care
• Knowledge of G-tube/J-tube feeding and site care, infection control, and isolation precautions
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required
• Valid CA RN license verification via Nysys uploaded within the last 2 weeks required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Wound Care unit of a hospital setting
• Community hospital experience required, with teaching hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Patient ratio of 1:9 with an acuity of one patient every 30 minutes, averaging 8-10 patients daily
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 5x8 hours )
• Uses Epic charting system
• Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care including direct skin and wound management
• Provide patient and family education on wound care, ostomy management, and transitions of care
• Develop and manage interdisciplinary plans of care addressing psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors
• Collaborate with physicians, patients, and families to ensure timely and effective communication
• Holiday coverage may be required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Returning staff must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
