American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Oncology RN with a CA license, BSN, and prior travel assignment experience for a rotating day/night position at a teaching hospital.
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of submission
- BSN required
- AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
- OCN certification and ONS Certificate Course preferred
- Telemetry and ostomy experience preferred
- Experience with oncology care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with GI care including bowel obstruction and colostomy/ileostomy management
- Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
- Experience with wound care and isolation precautions/PPE
- 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration
Responsibilities
- Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a teaching hospital setting
- 12-hour Day ) and Night ) rotating shifts, with no rotation within the same week but possible rotation across a 4-week schedule
- Patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
- Ability to float to other facilities within the health system as needed
- Epic charting system used
- Provide direct patient care to oncology and medical-surgical patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- May be reassigned to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius during the assignment if qualified
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract
- RTO cannot be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
