American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and BLS/ACLS certification.
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- IV start and Telemetry skills required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required (hardstop requirement)
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry remote monitoring required
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac required
- Experience with CVA, feeding tube care, high flow nasal cannula, and PCA medications preferred
- Total joint replacement experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Short term acute care hospital setting on the MS/Tele Float unit
- Floats within scope to Medical, Surgical, Renal, Oncology, Neuro, and Cardiology units
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on days and weekends, 1:6 on nights
- Every other weekend required, or minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation obligation
- No on-call requirements
- Float pool staff call a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Provide nursing care across multiple medical-surgical specialty units as part of a float pool team
- Training provided for lift devices; also uses ceiling lifts and bladder scanners
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
- Does not accept local candidates within a 75-mile radius
- Standard travelers must reside outside a 75-mile radius and may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler to any BJC facility
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions
