Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring a TN or compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Float position covering MS/Tele, Step-Down/PCU, and possibly ICU units based on skills and facility need


• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm)


• Patient ratio of 1:7


• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 2 weekends per month


• Uses Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication system

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of submission


• Current BLS certification required; ACLS required to float to Step-Down/ICU units


• NIHSS certification can be obtained after offer


• Minimum 1 year of experience required


• Prior travel nursing experience required


• Cerner charting experience preferred but not required


• Must be able to pass EKG testing before start date


• Certifications and licensure must not expire within 45 days of start date


• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management


• Experience with oxygen administration, oral suctioning, and non-invasive airway management


• Experience in cardiac monitoring and telemetry remote monitoring


• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use


• Experience managing dysrhythmias and using rapid response/code teams

Additional Information

• Floating assigned in accordance with facility floating policies and clinical experience, including appropriate orientation to new units per Joint Commission standards


• Care for patients across Med/Surg, Telemetry, and possibly Step-Down/ICU populations


• Duties may include managing bowel obstructions, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and chest tube care


• May involve care for CVA, substance withdrawal, and pre/post neurosurgery patients


• May administer medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA, and manage cardiac drips without titration


• Holiday RTO requests will not be accommodated during specified holiday periods including Valentine's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas


• RTO requests can be addressed with the manager after arrival onsite using the RTO form


• RTO cannot occur within 14 days of start date and cannot exceed 7 days


• Local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility at a reduced bill rate


• Candidates residing greater than 75 miles from the facility qualify for traveler rate


• Former perm staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months, but may return to another Covenant Health campus after 12 months


• Related or married travel team members cannot be assigned to the same unit


• Orientation modules are completed during onboarding and annually, with hours varying by department
