American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med Surg/Critical Care Unit requiring SD or compact RN license and ACLS/BLS certification with prior CCU experience preferred.
Requirements
- Active SD RN or multistate compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required, with CCU experience preferred
- Prior Med/Surg, PEDS, and ED experience a plus
- CCRN and/or TNCC certification a plus
- Strong critical thinking skills for patient assessment and interpreting hemodynamic monitoring results
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with physicians, healthcare workers, and patients/families
Responsibilities
- Critical care unit providing care for critically ill adolescent (16+) through geriatric medical/surgical patients
- CAH acute care setting with 8 private rooms
- Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 for critical care patients and 1:4 for Med/Surg overflow patients
- Uses EPIC charting system, PLUM IV smart pumps, central lines, arterial lines, ventilators, IABP, and an overhead patient lift system
- Rotating day/night shifts, 12-hour shifts from or
- 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts per week, with option for 48-hour guarantee
- Every other weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun) required along with a holiday rotation
- No on-call requirements
- Minimum staffing of 2 RNs when a patient is present, so RNs will not work alone
- May float to Med/Surg and PEDS units when CCU census is low
- Provide individualized nursing care to critically ill medical/surgical patients, anticipating and responding to complications and crises
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare workers, and delegate and supervise unlicensed personnel
- May be asked to supervise students assigned to the CCU as part of their training
- Orientation includes 2 days of hospital orientation and 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation, depending on prior experience
- Navy blue scrubs required
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility may be considered local
- Candidates with prior employment at any Sanford Health location must disclose this information and must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
