American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position at a small critical access hospital, requiring 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or valid Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of L&D/Postpartum RN experience required
- Proficiency in labor, delivery, postpartum care, and C-section recovery required
- Experience caring for both mother and newborn required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, external fetal monitoring (EFM), medication administration, newborn care, and pain management required
- Must be able to pass a fit test for respiratory mask (shaving required for proper seal; no medical or religious exemptions accepted)
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 70 miles from the facility to be eligible - local candidates are not accepted
Responsibilities
- Small critical access hospital with 10-15 births per month
- Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit, including C-section recovery and newborn care (couplet care)
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), primarily weekdays (Monday-Thursday)
- Every third weekend required
- Specific holiday weekend coverage required: 10/30, 10/31, 11/1, and 11/13
- Epic EMR experience required
- 13-week contract
- Responsibilities include antepartum, labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn care across a full range of clinical skills including fetal monitoring, pain management, couplet care, and patient/family education
- Preferred skills include administration of antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, insulin drips, and antiseizure medications
- Preferred experience includes phototherapy, breastfeeding/lactation support, postpartum hemorrhage management, and pregnancy-induced hypertension care
- Charge nurse experience is preferred but not required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility/health system cannot return until a 6-month break has been taken after working 1 year as a traveler
- Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed prior to the start date (RN modules may take up to 5-6 hours)
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
