American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a CA RN license, AWHONN Advanced certification, and at least 3 years of L&D experience.
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced (C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required, with 2-day floor orientation provided
- LTAC experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in labor and delivery management including vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation/scrub, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
- Experience with antepartum, postpartum, newborn, and high-risk OB patient care
- Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Experience with pain management modalities including epidural, IV conscious sedation, and PCA
- Preceptor experience preferred
- Charge RN experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Labor and Delivery unit within an acute care hospital with 356 staffed beds
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Flexibility required to work weekends depending on contract length
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to Mother Baby unit and to a sister facility in San Pedro
- Uses Epic for charting
- Scrubs of any color permitted
- Free parking available
- Supports high-risk and low-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, LDRP, and mother/baby patient populations
- Responsible for newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
- Provides postpartum care including breastfeeding support, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment
- Manages patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to consideration; post-offer RTO changes may not be accommodated
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff may return after a 3-month waiting period and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required
