American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3+ years of experience and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
Requirements
- Active RN license (AZ State or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- C-section experience required
- Must be proficient in fetal monitoring and appropriate response to fetal distress
- Experience caring for high-risk OB patients, including pre-eclampsia
- Strong clinical assessment skills required to manage OB emergencies independently
Responsibilities
- Acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds
- Handles 1-3 births per day, approximately 830 births per year
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (6p-6a)
- Requires 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- On-call requirement of one shift per 4-week schedule
- May float to Emergency Department or Med-Surg units if experienced
- Must be able to function in L&D and couplet care settings
- Uses Allscripts EMR
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in a Labor & Delivery unit without an in-house OB or neonatologist
- Work alongside support staff including OB scrub tech, HUC, patient care technician, and respiratory therapist available 24/7
- 24/7 in-house pharmacy support available
- Nurse manager may occasionally assist with direct patient care
- Orientation held every Monday
- Level 3 trauma center setting
