Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit requiring 1 year of specialty experience and MN RN licensure.
Details
- Acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation
- High-risk Labor and Delivery unit with 1:1 patient ratios
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) available
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Will float within scope to postpartum unit as needed
- May also float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby
- Charting performed in Epic (Excellian)
- Scrubs provided by the unit
Requirements
- Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
- 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP (Advanced NRP preferred)
- AWHONN Intermediate and FHM certifications preferred
- Epic/Excellian charting experience required
- Skilled in high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation
- Experience with forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, and sterile vaginal exams
- Proficient in fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with high-risk antepartum and postpartum care
- Skilled in administration of medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
- Assist with specialized procedures including C-sections, PPTL, D&C, cerclage placement/removal, and waterbirths
- Support high-risk pregnancy management including pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, VBAC, and multiple gestations
- Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
- Provide postpartum support including breastfeeding assistance and wound care
- Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Returning staff must have a 3-month gap since last working as perm staff or per diem
- RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
- Pre-start modules required, averaging 8 hours to complete
