American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit requiring prior charge experience and circulating skills for C-sections.

Requirements

  • Active RN license, New Hampshire (NH) or compact, required
  • 1-3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, 3 years preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Required to circulate for C-sections
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Only AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted
  • Skilled in high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
  • Experience with fetal monitoring including internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement/calibration
  • Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Proficient in newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and newborn assessment
  • Experience with antepartum care procedures including NST and sterile vaginal exams
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required
  • Drug screen must be completed within 14 days of start date

Responsibilities

  • High-risk Labor & Delivery unit averaging 2,000 deliveries per year
  • Level III NICU on-site, unit is not an LDRP model
  • Accepts maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) transfer-in patients with OB managing care
  • Night shift schedule of 3×12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • No on‑call requirements
  • Required to float to Maternity/Mother‑Baby and occasionally Postpartum using a team nursing/helping hands approach
  • May float to ICU and ED for limited‑assignment (LA) task duties or 1:1 patient sitting for suicide precautions
  • Will not be assigned patients outside of clinical scope or team assignment
  • Every other weekend work required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care settings
  • Assist with surgical procedures including cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
  • Support pain management including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
  • Unit orientation includes 24 hours total, with one day for HealthStream and up to two days of on‑unit orientation
  • Scrubs of any color are permitted
  • First‑time travelers are not considered for this position
  • Former employees of any facility associated with the health system are not eligible for consideration, regardless of separation length
  • Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced local rate
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past two years are required for consideration
