American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a Level IV Trauma critical access hospital, requiring at least 1 year of LDRP experience and AK RN licensure.
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of LDRP experience required
- Experience with fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external fetal monitoring
- Experience with labor and delivery management, including vaginal delivery assistance, hemorrhage/shock management, and medication administration (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, etc.)
- Experience with postpartum care including cesarean section, couplet care, and lactation support
- Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, and thermoregulation
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and use of infusion pumps
- 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration
Responsibilities
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of an acute care critical access hospital with LTC and outpatient services
- 3x12 variable shifts covering both day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:00-7:00) schedules
- Weekend shifts required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities within the state
- Epic EMR used, experience preferred
- LDRP patient population with triage of obstetrical patients
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care within an LDRP setting
- Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction when needed
- Perform newborn care duties including identification, metabolic screening, and discharge teaching to parents
- Business casual or any color scrubs permitted
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside the 50-mile radius

- RTO requests considered based on request, with commitment to work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
