American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with critical care and ventilator management skills for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring a CA RN license.
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; 3 years preferred
- Cerner EMR experience
Responsibilities
- Acute care ICU setting with 32 staffed beds (licensed for 40), organized in pods of 8
- Patient ratio of 2:1
- Charge Nurse role carries no patient assignment; Resource RN may take a patient assignment
- One Nurse Aide typically staffed on day shift
- 12-hour day shifts and ), every other weekend required
- Floating required to Tele and ED ICU/Tele holds, first to float
- Uses Cerner EMR
- RNs read and interpret their own telemetry strips (no monitor techs)
- Manages drips including pressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedation
- Ventilator management required
- In-house Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage, 24/7 RT and Pharmacy support
- Common diagnoses include neuro, cardiac, PCI, sepsis, ETOH, and stroke cases
- Utilizes Ventriculostomy, TBI, and Camino ICP monitoring
- Two-day unit-specific orientation including time with an ICU educator and preceptor
- Huddle report and bedside report used for handoffs
- Scrub colors: Navy Blue for RNs, Hunter Green for Nurse Aides
- No acrylic nails or gel polish allowed during the assignment
- Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays and will rotate holiday coverage with core staff
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment
