American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro patient care skills and a valid CA RN license for a 13-week travel assignment.
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of RN ICU experience required
- At least 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with neuro patient care including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory/thoracic care
- Experience with central line, arterial line, and PICC line management
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure management
- 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required
Responsibilities
- ICU setting with a high volume of neurological patient cases
- 1:2 patient ratio
- 3x12 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required, plus additional weekends based on unit needs
- On-call as needed
- May float to other units within scope of practice, including Summit or Herrick campuses, with shuttle service provided for floating
- Uses Epic charting system
- Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients with a strong focus on neurological cases
- Care for patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, and multisystem organ management
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius unless approved for travel rate
- Holiday coverage may be required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- Returning staff or travelers must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible for rehire
- Re-orientation only required if separated 6+ months since last shift at the same facility
- Local candidates accepted at local rate
- First-time travelers may be considered given sufficient ICU experience
