American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center requiring MD or Compact RN licensure and prior travel or ED experience.
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI, and TNCC certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of ED experience required, 4-5 years preferred
- Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Travel experience preferred; first-time travelers with 5+ years experience will be considered
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skills in pediatrics, respiratory care, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and psychiatric emergencies required
- Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction and interpreting dysrhythmias required
Responsibilities
- Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department serving all age ranges
- Average daily census of 140 with 46 beds
- Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 for lower acuity groups
- Common diagnoses include chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, and respiratory illness/arrest
- Utilizes specialized equipment including Belmont rapid infuser, Giraffe warmer, and Lucas device for cardiac arrests
- Epic EMR experience required
- 3x12-hour evening/mid shifts (15:30-04:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty as needed
- No scheduled on-call requirement
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of medical, surgical, pediatric, and psychiatric conditions
- Perform triage, EKG interpretation, splinting, and isolation precautions as part of daily responsibilities
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments within scope
- Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Returning travelers must have at least 6 months away from the system before reapplying
- Maximum RTO request of 7 days; additional week required on new contracts if requesting more than 4 consecutive days off
- First-time travelers with sufficient experience will be considered
