American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Room position in a Critical Access Hospital requiring 2+ years ER experience and willingness to float to Med/Surg and Stepdown units.
Requirements
- Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
- Minimum 2 years of current Emergency Room experience required
- Critical Access Hospital experience required
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC required
- Emergency Room skills checklist required for consideration
- One supervisory signed reference from the past year of employment required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Work in a modern Emergency Department equipped with state-of-the-art technology
- Access to TeleEmergency, TelePsych, and TeleNeonatal services via DHMC
- Critical Access Hospital setting supporting stabilization, treatment, and transfer of emergent patients
- Role is approximately 60% ED and 40% critical access charge duties, serving as backup to Med/Surg and ED
- Floating required to Med/Surg and Stepdown units, including taking Stepdown and Med/Surg patients
- Night shift schedule: 3x12hr shifts, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
- No on‑call requirements
- Compact RN license accepted
- Provide emergency care alongside ED technicians, Certified Emergency RNs, and board‑certified providers
- Work closely with local ambulance services and helicopter transport teams (DHART and LifeFlight of Maine) for critical patient transfers
- Support Med/Surg and Stepdown units as part of charge responsibilities
- Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
- Housing in the area can be limited, so candidates are encouraged to research options in advance
- Maximum of 5 days RTO may be requested
