American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Electrophysiology (EP) Lab position requiring 3+ years of EP experience and comfort with conscious sedation.
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required; pending licensure accepted at submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required; CCI RCES and CCI RCIS preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant EP Lab RN experience required
- Required experience: EP procedures, arrhythmia induction, cardiac ablation, cardiac mapping, conduction studies, AICD insertion/programming, LAA closure, pacemaker insertion, and scrub procedures
- Must be comfortable providing conscious sedation during procedures
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and recognition of life‑threatening arrhythmias
- Experience with laser-assisted procedures and sterile technique required
- Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
- Epic charting experience required
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 12 months preferred at submission; required at start
Responsibilities
- EP Lab setting with an average daily census of 15 cases
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
- Team structure includes 1st Late and 2nd Late assignments, with all staff receiving at least one of each per week
- May be assigned additional shifts to help fill scheduling holes or reach 40 hours weekly
- Performs procedures including ablations (VT, PVI, CV, A-Flutter, AV Node), ICD/pacer placement and exchanges, laser lead extraction, and LAAO
- Uses specialized equipment including PFA, Cryo, ESI, IVUS, and Cardio Lab
- Documentation via EPIC, Cupid, and Cardio Lab systems; medication management via Pyxis; communication via SBAR
- May be required to float within or near the facility
- Must be willing to serve on Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations if required
- Responsibilities include scrubbing and circulating procedures, EKG lead placement, prepping access sites, monitoring patients, and maintaining sterile fields
- Stocks and manages supplies for procedures
- Unit orientation is approximately 30 hours, delivered weekly
- Scrubs are provided
- Pre-start learning modules required (8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online and annually
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed, with independent transportation
- 13-week minimum contract length
