Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/Level IV nursery night shift position requiring RRT certification and Level 4 NICU experience.
Details
Children's hospital setting within the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics department, NICU unit
Level 4 NICU patient population with preferred exposure to cardiac PICU cases
13 or 26 week assignment length
Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
36 or 48 hours per week available
Every other weekend and every other holiday required, must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though preferred schedules are not guaranteed
Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required, Level 4 NICU experience required
PICU cardiac experience preferred
Teaching hospital experience preferred
BSN preferred
Required certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP
PALS certification preferred
ACCS certification preferred
VA state license required, license pending accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start (license required if applicable)
Must hold another state license to be eligible for a temporary VA license
Skilled in medication delivery systems including aerosol setup, MDI, and nebulizer therapies
Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment including Bubble CPAP, CPAP/BIPAP, oscillating and high frequency jet ventilators, and high flow nasal cannula
Experience assisting with high risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, respiratory distress syndrome, and cystic fibrosis
Two professional references required
Nursys verification required
Additional Information
Provide respiratory care services to neonatal and pediatric ICU patients within a Level 4 NICU
Participate in specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
Maximum RTO of 40 hours per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed to coordinate an appropriate start date
No radius restriction for this unit
Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning as a traveler
External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at the facility, and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
