Overview

Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Nurses provide critical peri‑operative care for cardiovascular patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. The CVOR nurse participates in sedation, assists physicians during procedures by administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and applying dressings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cardiac surgical team on preoperative assessment of cardiovascular patients.
• Assist in patient sedation and anesthetic management during cardiovascular procedures.
• Monitor patient vital signs and intraoperative data; promptly identify and report changes.
• Apply dressings, wound care, and post‑procedure protocols in the CVOR setting.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of current experience in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR).
• Maine State Healthcare Provider license or willingness to obtain one before assignment.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
