Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg position on a 4 West Surgical unit in Birmingham, AL. The role requires 2+ years of post‑operative care experience.

Details

• Unit: 4 West Surgical, 505‑bed acute care hospital
• Patient population: post‑operative surgery patients and medical overflow (orthopedic, neurological, general surgery)
• Staffing ratio: 5‑6:1 on a 42‑bed unit
• Key skills: post‑operative assessments, pain management, wound and drain care
• EMR: Epic (required experience)
• Equipment: Alaris infusion pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing
• Night shift: 3x12‑hour shifts, 18:30–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on‑call requirements
• Floating to similar units and other Orlando Health facilities within 25‑mile radius occasionally
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Qualifications

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license
• Current BLS certification (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg or acute care experience
• Experience with post‑operative assessments, pain management, wound and drain care
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Wear Navy scrubs; fleece not permitted
• Certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of start date
• Facility: Orlando Health, private not‑for‑profit
• Hospital holds Primary Stroke Center certification and is MBSAQIP accredited

Compensation and Benefits

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend to be determined.
