Qualifications
- Active RN License
- Degree from accredited nursing program
- BLS, ACLS & NRP Certification
- At least 18 months of recent experience in an Acute Care Mother/Baby setting
- Other requirements to be determined by client facility
Duties & Responsibilities
The Postpartum / Mother‑Baby nurse (RN) educates and assists new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the postpartum period. They care for infants and educate mothers about care.
- Responsible for caring for both moms and their newborns after delivery.
- Monitors mothers in the hours following delivery to ensure proper recovery, recognizing postpartum depression and teaching mothers how to address emotions.
- Teaches new parents how to care, bathe, breastfeed and/or bottle‑feed the newborn and monitors the infant’s health.
