Registered Nurse - IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Medical-Renal)

Roanoke, VA Acute Care

Contract Nights 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block One holiday required per 13-week contract

• Provide direct patient care in a PCU/Medical-Renal stepdown setting serving adult and geriatric patients at a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform cardiac monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to cardiac emergencies; manage cardiac drips (without titration)
• Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, administer blood products, and manage central and peripheral lines
• Provide respiratory support via nasal cannula and oxygen administration; apply non-invasive airway management techniques
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations; maintain appropriate isolation precautions
• Float to other units within skillset as needed; Epic charting proficiency required

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown clinical settings
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are generally not accepted; candidates residing 50-99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

• Experience caring for patients with renal, gastrointestinal, or pulmonary diagnoses in a hospitalist-covered unit
• Familiarity with chronic ventilator patient care
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are also welcome to apply)

• Opportunity to work at a large, Magnet-designated acute care teaching hospital that serves as the region's only Level I Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients
• Gain experience in a dynamic, high-acuity stepdown environment affiliated with multiple academic medical institutions
