Registered Nurse - PCU / Progressive Care Unit (Travel Contract)

Austin, TX Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Contract 13 Weeks Night Shift 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM Expected 3 shifts/week 4 weekend shifts per month required (Friday and Saturday nights)

• Provide PCU-level nursing care to a cardiology patient population including open heart, heart failure, post-cath lab, valve, watchman, EP (pacemakers, ablations), LVAD, and advanced heart failure patients
• Maintain a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and collaborate closely with PCTs and free-charge RNs on a 52-bed PCU/6-bed IMC shared unit
• Perform and assist with in-unit procedures including cardioversions and radiologist-guided thoracentesis
• Document care using Meditech EMR in accordance with PCU standards of care charting requirements
• Adhere to unit fall prevention and skin integrity protocols, with CNC rounding each shift to verify precautions
• Participate in on-call requirements as assigned; must be available until 4:00 AM or float within the system as needed

• Active RN license valid in the state of Texas (or compact eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Cardiology experience required, including open heart, heart failure, post-cath lab, and valve patients
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

• LVAD experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR
• Experience in a high-acuity cardiology or stepdown/PCU setting
• Team-oriented approach with willingness to support PCTs and fellow RNs

• Work on a unit recognized in the top 5% for patient experience nationally within a large health system, ranking company-wide in Q4 2023
• Join a well-staffed unit with free-charge RNs, a dedicated resource RN, and a supportive house supervisor presence on the floor each shift
