OR RN Job Breakdown
Shift: 5x8 Days (07:00–15:30). Weekly Hours: 40 hrs. Unit: Operating Room. Call: Weekend/on‑call support as needed. Floating: May float to other Swedish campuses.
Core Responsibilities
- Circulating in Surgical Cases: ~20 hrs/week (Ortho, General Surgery, Urology, GYN, Spine, ENT, Plastics, Vascular, Robotics, and Trauma procedures).
- Orthopedic & Robotics Cases: ~8–10 hrs/week (Total joints, sports medicine, neuro/spine, and robotic‑assisted surgeries).
- Scrub & Specialty Support: ~5–6 hrs/week (Assisting in trauma, vascular, ENT, and specialty procedures – scrub experience preferred).
- Perioperative Patient Care: ~4–5 hrs/week (Procedure sedation, blood product administration, drains, wound vacs, epidural pumps, PICC/Central Line and Port‑a‑Cath management).
- Documentation & Team Coordination: ~3–4 hrs/week (Surgical charting, patient safety checks, case preparation, and interdisciplinary communication).
Key Requirements
- 2+ years OR experience
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- First‑time travelers accepted
- Orthopedic/Sports Medicine experience required
- Robotics experience required
- ENT with endoscope experience strongly preferred
- Scrub experience preferred
- Active Compact License accepted
- Previous Swedish permanent employees are not eligible
Case Mix
- 70% Outpatient
- 30% Inpatient
- ~10% Pediatrics
Ideal Candidate
OR RN with strong circulating experience in Orthopedics, Robotics, Spine, and General Surgery. Candidates with ENT/endoscope and scrub experience will be highly competitive for this position.
