TNAA TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR – Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Waterloo, Iowa.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education to the patient.
• Circulating OR Nurse duties: work within the operating suite but outside of the sterile field; prepare instruments for specific surgical procedures; monitor and observe the patient during surgery; respond to potential complications alongside the physician.
• Scrub OR Nurse duties: handle and prepare operating instruments and equipment within the sterile field; selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.
• Provide basic bedside care; prepare, administer and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients’ family members and members of the operating team; ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient; initiate patient education plans.
• Respond to comfort and safety needs; accurate care and handling of specimens; monitor equipment; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.

• Physical requirements: stand/walk for long periods; bend, lean and stoop without difficulty; lift 20 pounds routinely (up to 50 pounds at times); exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases may occur.
