Position: Oncology Med/Surg RN
Schedule: 12-hour nights, 6:45 PM-7:15 AM, 48 hours a week; every other weekend; holidays rotated with permanent staff
Experience: 1 year with at least one travel assignment, and 2 years in specialty - no first-time travelers
Required: BLS; NIHSS preferred; ONS if administering chemotherapy
EMR: MEDITECH
Unit: 29-bed oncology floor at 1:5, occasionally 1:6, generally with 3 nurse aides a day
Duties: Care for acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow and end-of-life patients; outpatient infusion patients come to the floor to finish treatment when the outpatient area closes; central telemetry monitoring, nurses are not required to read strips
Note: Strict 75-mile radius rule measured from the traveler's driver's license address, which must be provided at submission; the charge nurse is out of the staffing grid; floating is rare and only to medical acute; Caribbean blue scrubs; 3 days floor orientation
