Job Overview

The Nurse Leader (NL) is a licensed Registered Nurse responsible for leading and supporting teams, processes, and programs that impact patient care. The role fosters high‑quality, patient‑centered nursing practice while promoting Trinity Health and MercyOne’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to oversee daily operations and support staff performance.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards, contributing to performance management and departmental goals.
• Assist with scheduling, workflow, and resource stewardship.
• Champion professional nursing standards and drive evidence‑based practice.
• Promote a safe, healing environment for patients and colleagues.
• Lead team development, mentorship, staff engagement, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes and operational performance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license (or Iowa license with secondary license requirement as noted).
• At least two (2) years of relevant clinical experience.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within six (6) months of hire.
• Specialty practice certification preferred.
• Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Personal presence marked by honesty, integrity, and caring, with ability to inspire and motivate others aligned with Trinity Health and MercyOne values.

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Ability to set and organize work priorities and adapt them frequently in a varied and stressful environment.
• Must travel to multiple MercyOne/Trinity Health sites as needed.
• Compliance with MercyOne and Trinity Health policies and procedures.
