Job Overview
Seeking experienced Telemetry/Stepdown RNs for a high‑acuity 36‑bed Cardiac/PCU unit in an acute care Level II Trauma facility. This unit manages complex cardiac and post‑procedural patients and requires strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and titratable drip experience. This is not a basic telemetry assignment — Stepdown‑level experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide care for cardiac and PCU‑level patients
- Manage nurse‑to‑patient ratios of:
- PCU acuity: 1:4
- MedSurg/Tele acuity: 1:5 (rarely 1:6)
- Titrate cardiac drips including:
- Cardizem
- Amiodarone
- Dobutamine
- Dopamine
- Integrelin
- Heparin
- Ativan
- Lasix
- Nitro (up to 50 mcg)
- Care for patients with diagnoses including:
- AMI
- Post‑cath / post‑PCI
- CR bands
- Pacemakers
- Post‑op lung surgeries
- Respiratory failure
- Chest tubes
- Read and interpret telemetry strips (Phillips monitors; monitor techs present but RN interpretation required)
- Float to other MedSurg/Tele units as needed
- Document in EPIC
Requirements
- Active RN license
- BLS (AHA)
- Strong Stepdown or high‑acuity Telemetry experience
- Must be comfortable titrating multiple cardiac drips
- Must independently interpret telemetry strips
- Must reside 50+ miles from facility
- Copy of unexpired driver’s license required at submission
- No artificial nails permitted
Additional Details
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 hours guaranteed weekly
- Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
- Holiday rotation required
- Charge nurse available 24/7 (night charge takes patients)
- CNA support (approximately 1 CNA per 9 patients; team nursing model when possible)
- CPAP & BiPAP managed by RT
- Royal Blue scrubs required
- Cancellation: 2 shifts per 13‑week contract
50‑mile radius rule applies (no locals). Must have Stepdown‑level experience and cardiac drip titration skills. Driver’s license copy required at submission. High‑acuity cardiac unit — not appropriate for entry‑level Tele nurses.
