PCU RN – Short Job Description

• Unit: PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
• Beds: 16 (up to 20 with double occupancy)
• Patient Type: High‑acuity cardiac / post‑cath / post‑open heart / telemetry patients

Shift

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 3x12s

Patient Ratio

• 1:3–4

Required Skills

• Minimum 1 year PCU experience
• Strong EKG / dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV cardiac medication administration
• Experience with:
  • Chest tubes
  • Chronic vents
  • BiPAP/CPAP
  • Peritoneal dialysis
  • Transvenous pacing
  • Sheath pulls / arterial lines

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• Active AZ RN License

Float

• MS/Tele required
• ICU preferred

• Must pass dysrhythmia exam (80% within 2 attempts) before signing
