Primary Purpose

The Registered Nurse – Resource Team provides comprehensive nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. The RN Clinical Nurse/RT assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Registered Nurse – Resource Team maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. Must be available to provide nursing services in all patient care areas of expertise and knowledge, at all elected facilities. A registered nurse's practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

Responsibilities

Minimum Job Requirements

• Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Certification / License: Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board for GA locations and Alabama Licensing Board for AL locations.
• Licensure: BLS required; ACLS required.
• Work Experience: Years of nursing experience in specialty area required. (Number of years needed not specified.)

• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Unit specializes in Head/Neck and GI surgeries: tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colo‑rectal surgery, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, ostomy takedowns, as well as other procedures; Medical Overflow.
• Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-6 (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8); CNA: 1:9-12.
• Required License, Certification or Position Specific Requirements: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement).
• Skills required: General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps; Medication gtt management to include Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF.
• Support within the Department: CNA – ratios vary; Receptionist/HUC; Charge nurse, 24/7 – may or may not have patients; Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws only; IV/VAT Team; Resource Nurse – as available; RT, 24/7; Hospitalist, 24/7; Intensivist, 24/7; Telemetry monitoring/tech? No monitoring tech; nurses read monitors and respond.
• Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC; IV Pump: Alaris; Med dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Phillips.
• Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other; No call for travelers; Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays; RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. May speak English in good, understandable terms. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, finger dexterity. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical abilities testing required.
