Job Summary – L&D / Postpartum RN (Mom-Baby)

Submission & Compliance Rules

• Driver’s License required at submittal
  • Used to confirm 50-mile radius rule
• Radius Rule: Must live 50+ miles away
• Candidate cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility under

Important Policy

• Artificial nails strictly prohibited
• Refusal to remove nails = Immediate contract termination

Orientation Requirement

• Pass/Fail exam on Friday of orientation
• Open book (all resources provided)
• Must score 90% or higher
• Failure = Termination

Required Certifications

• BLS
• NRP

Unit Details

• Level 1 Maternal Care
• Low-risk births
• Occasional:
  • Magnesium (Mag) patients
  • Gestational Diabetes (GDM)

Patient Ratios

• 1:3 Mom/Baby Couplets
• 1:1 Labor (mostly, depending on case)

Experience Requirements

• No minimum years required
• Must be comfortable with:
  • Labor
  • Deliveries
  • Postpartum
• NICU experience preferred (big plus)

Common Drips

• Insulin
• Magnesium
• Pitocin

Equipment

• Alaris IV Pumps

Unit Structure

• Charge nurse on every shift
• Charge nurse does take an assignment
• Closed unit (No floating)

Scheduling

• Weekend requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• Block scheduling: Not guaranteed
• Flexibility strongly preferred
