Requirements

• Active RN License
• Degree from an accredited nursing program
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC may be required
• Eighteen months of recent experience in an acute care emergency room
• Additional requirements set by the client facility

Duties & Responsibilities

Emergency room registered nurses provide care for patients with a range of illnesses or trauma that require emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life‑threatening conditions.

• Assess, intervene, and stabilize a variety of trauma and illnesses with decisive action.
• Apply knowledge of general and specific health issues to a broad spectrum of medical conditions.
• Understand triage to prioritize injuries based on medical need.
• Make quick and accurate assessments of incoming patients, including both physical and mental health conditions.
