Dialysis Acute Care Registered Nurse
Title: Dialysis Acute Care Registered Nurse
Locations: Good Samaritan Hospital and Kearney Regional, both in Kearney, Nebraska.
Purpose and Scope
The Inpatient RN provides direct patient care according to company policies and procedures, including client compliance programs and contracted hospitals’ policies. Areas of practice include, but are not limited to, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapies, apheresis, and ultrafiltration. The RN partners with the hospital to provide quality care and a positive patient experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply extensive knowledge to perform a broad range of tasks, including direct patient care in multiple dialysis modalities.
- Supervise and direct Patient Care Technicians and clerical staff; provide training to ICU staff for CRRT.
- Deliver safe, effective care in a timely manner.
- Give concise shift reports and manage patient schedules to meet clinical needs.
- Implement, administer, monitor, and document intradialytic transfusions, including reporting adverse reactions.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team to adjust patient care plans.
- Conduct machine safety tests, calibrations, and disinfection per policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation in ACES and hospital records.
- Participate in QAI activities, staff meetings, training, and orientation.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert on dialysis equipment and patient complications.
- Report incidents, complaints, or problems per adverse event reporting requirements.
- Assist with projects as directed and perform other duties as necessary.
- May provide in‑center patient care on an as‑needed basis.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Requires traveling between assigned hospitals and regional meetings.
- On‑call rotation including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
- Potential exposure to infectious materials.
- Direct patient care may involve lifting up to 200 lbs with assistance.
- Employees must take the Ishihara Color Blindness test; accommodations may be considered.
Supervision
Provides supervision and direction of Patient Care Technicians and clerical staff; provides education to ICU staff for CRRT.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current CPR BLS Certification.
- Current state licensure.
- Ongoing knowledge of nephrology advancements.
- Certificate in Nephrology Nursing or Apheresis Nursing highly encouraged.
Experience and Required Skills
- Two years Nephrology Nursing experience in the last two years as an RN.
- Minimum 2 years inpatient dialysis nursing experience.
- Strong assessment skills for critically ill patients.
- CPR BLS Recognition.
- ACLS CPR Recognition preferred.
Floating Requirement
Client requires candidates to float to sites within 50 miles of the main site.
Shift Details
Shift details will be discussed during the interview. The role requires a commitment of 40 hours plus overtime and floating to area sites as needed. Minimum guarantee of 36 hours per week.

- Schedule requests/restrictions
- Refusal to float
- Late to shift
- Left early
- Called out
- Time off planned
