Job Summary

A Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit performs independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards defined by the state Board of Nursing. The role includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care; collecting and assessing health data; and providing health teaching and counseling. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Schedule

  • Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
  • Ability to perform nursing care, health assessment, health teaching, health counseling, therapy and treatment planning, medical function execution, patient referral, treatment plan monitoring, documentation, resource utilization, and registered nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Certification as appropriate for unit or service
  • Previous experience as a Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care
  • Evaluates health status through ongoing collection and assessment of health data
  • Provides therapy and treatment supportive and restorative to life and well-being (directly or through consultation, delegation, supervision, or teaching of others)
  • Executes delegated medical functions
  • Refers patients as needed for further evaluation or treatment
  • Reviews and monitors therapy and treatment plans
  • Documents in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines
  • Uses resources as needed
  • May float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications based on business need
  • May be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift
