Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled ER RN for a 14‑week travel assignment in Lynchburg, Virginia. The role demands rapid-response, high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced emergency department setting, ensuring patient safety and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing based on severity.
- Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved emergency nursing techniques and protocols.
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during emergency treatments and examinations.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout their time in the emergency department, responding to immediate needs.
- Observe and document patient conditions as required within scope of practice, including vital signs.
- Respond to life‑saving situations based on emergency nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Initiate patient education plans according to individualized needs, considering the acute nature of emergency care.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams—including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers, and other support staff—to ensure comprehensive care.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection‑control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as an ER RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current PALS (AHA / ARC) or ENPC certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP, and SANE certifications.
- Other certifications or licenses relevant to emergency nursing.
Essential Skills
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and proficiency in PC skills.
Physical, Interpersonal, Technical, Mental, and Sensory Requirements
- Remain in a stationary position and move equipment (50‑100lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Work effectively with a variety of personnel, presenting a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Grasp and perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures and equipment.
- Coping with frequent contact with the general public under pressure, managing deadlines, and working with or without assistance.
- Maintain visual acuity and effective communication.
