Requirements

• At least 18 months experience as a CT Technician in a health care setting
• Must be ARRT (CT) or ASRT certified
• Most states require licensure
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

CT technologists operate CT equipment, producing cross‑sectional images of patients’ bones, organs, and tissue for diagnosis.

• Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
• Set equipment controls, monitor equipment and patient, making adjustments as needed
• Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, including starting IVs and injecting contrast when applicable
• Dispense oral contrast to patients
• Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures
• Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence and label appropriately
• Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions
• Charge procedures and supplies used to the patient record
• Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
• Deliver quality, cost‑effective patient care in a professional manner
• Maintain a patient‑focused environment and promote a safe work environment
