Position Summary

The Trauma Nurse Coordinator is an experienced registered nurse accountable for the effective clinical care coordination of trauma patients and their families/caregivers. The role eliminates barriers to timely care, facilitates seamless care transitions, and increases patient and provider satisfaction. As the front‑line point of contact, the coordinator proactively identifies patient needs, ensures access to emotional support and clinical guidance throughout care within the complex UCI Health system, and triages or refers inquiries appropriately. The position works with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager to develop and grow the program and provides nursing services and other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Understands the age‑specific cognitive, physical, emotional and maturation processes
  • Five years of recent RN experience in a related clinical setting such as ICU or ED
  • Demonstrates customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Demonstrated experience working in a busy, highly detailed environment
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Experience working with trauma patients in a clinical setting
  • Experience navigating patients through a complex healthcare system
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support

Education

  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing
