The position involves working within a Level I Verified Adult & Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and contributing to the education of surgical residents and advanced practice clinicians.

- Sanford Clinic Surgical Associates (SCSA) is seeking a Fellowship Trained BC/BE Surgical Critical Care Surgeon.
- SCSA has the largest and most experienced group of general surgeons in South Dakota.
- Physician will cover Surgical Critical Care Service and Acute Care Surgery/Trauma Surgery Service.
- SICU located within Sanford USD Medical Center.
- Surgical Center Clinic attached to hospital.
- Level I Verified Adult & Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care and perform surgical procedures for adolescents and adults for various conditions, illnesses, and injuries of the alimentary tract, abdomen and its contents, breast, skin, soft tissue, head and neck, endocrine system, and minor extremity surgery.
- Provide for the on-call emergent/urgent needs of the pediatric and pre-adolescent surgical patient within the core privilege definition.
- Work with and teach Surgical Residents/Advanced Practice Clinicians (Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners).

Requirements
- Must be Board Eligible/Board Certified.
- Must be Fellowship Trained in Surgical Critical Care.
- Experienced candidates preferred but new graduates will also be considered.
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a hospital affiliated surgical residency program or a clinical fellowship of at least five years' duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
- Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
